Home Pull up Bar

The FitBar MP-1 Wall Mounted Pull Up Bar puts a pull up bar where you need it most: in your home or garage. While no-screw bars like our FP-2 Doorway Pull Up Bar is great for renters or someone who doesn’t mind removing it to close the door, the MP-1 is great for homeowners who want at solid permanent bar. It can be installed above the door frame, so it doesn’t interfere with the door swing. It can be installed on either side of the door frame.

Having the pull up bar mounted above a door allows home workouts to include narrow and wide grip pull ups and chin ups. The textured powder coated bar provides exceptional grip. Utilize our FitBar Neutral Grips, Ball Grips, or Minicanes so you can do neutral grip pull ups and grip strength workouts. Chin ups (underhand grip) can also be executed. Our FP-6.1 Ab Straps or FP-6.2 Ab Straps with Handles can hook onto the bar for a great ab workout. If the floor space is available, the FitBar MP-1 provides a solid anchor point for our FP-1 Suspension Straps.

The MP-1 can also be mounted to any wall without a doorway, however, there will be minimal clearance between the user doing a pull up and the wall. Only the strictest of pull ups can be executed. Adding a 2x10 board to the installation will increase the clearance by 1.5-inches. Note: the installation fasteners provided with the MP-1 are for direct mount only – you will need to determine and provide the appropriate fastener for 2 x 10 or other installations.

Easy Pull Up Bar Installation

Prior to purchasing the MP-1 Wall Mounted Pull Up Bar, it is highly recommended you survey your potential installation locations. The pull up bar is 44 inches wide by 7-3/4 inches high. The 1-1/4 diameter bar centerline should be located 8 inches or more below the ceiling to provide headspace at the top of the pull up movement. The ideal height of the bar centerline is 80 to 86 inches from the floor for most people to comfortably do pull ups.

For doorway installation, the MP-1 is secured into the king studs around the framing (2 x 4 or 2 x 6 vertical studs that span from floor to ceiling) and the center cripple stud. The MP-1 will work in doorways with 32 and 34 inch-wide doors. It is highly recommended you acquire a stud finder to help plan your purchase as it will be required for installation.

For installation on 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 wood-framed walls, the stud spacing needs to be determined. Most homes in the US have 16-inch stud spacing. The MP-1 can install into three studs spanning 32 inches, however it is recommended that an intermediate 2 x 10 board be used to provide additional bar to wall clearance. For a wall with 24-inch stud spacing, usage of an intermediate 2 x 10 board is required the 48 inches across the three studs.

For all but the direct-mount installation, it is highly recommended that a licensed construction professional with knowledge of the specific wall materials and appropriate fasteners be consulted and be responsible for the installation.
