Grip Wheel - Rotating Pull Up Bar

The Grip Wheel works like a rotating pull up bar, except the left and right grips are independent of each other. Each triangular element rotates about a common shaft, and included three foam grips each. Each foam grip covers a metal tube that rides on bushings to allow it rotate freely. The challenge with the Grip Wheel is that you are always supporting your body weight, and momentarily supporting your weight from one arm as the other reaches for the grip. It requires upper body strength and core strength to keep your body stabilized under the Grip Wheel, preventing it from swinging from side to side. Overhand grip and underhand grip can be used to spin the grip elements. You can also straddle the Grip Wheel to emulate the Spartan Twister obstacle. The Grip Wheel is an excellent training tool for OCR athletes, ninja course warriors, and anyone looking for a dynamic rotating upper body workout. You may also what to consider the Beater Bar, which is also a great obstacle trainer.

The Grip Wheel attaches to any 1.5” or smaller pull up bar, pull up rack, or monkey bars. The attachment hooks include a safety bars that keeps the Grip Wheel in place. Plastic sleeves keep the Grip Wheel from sliding along the pull up bar. This keeps the Grip Wheel from sliding along the bar to user side loads. The Grip Wheel is 24 inches wide and requires the bar to be at least 8” from a wall. The center shaft hangs down 7.5 inches from the bar it is mounted on, and it effectively puts the user’s hands 13” below the attached bar. Checkout this compilation video from a Spartan Race last year. The Grip Wheel makes for a great obstacle challenge at any obstacle gym. Currently the World Record for maximum number of Grip Wheel reps (the rotation of a triangular element in either direction constitutes a rep) is 63!
